Long distance march
Long-distance marching is a very pleasant combination of low-intensity physical exercise, social interaction and outdoor life.
The world's oldest and largest four-day long-distance march - or simply "Walk of the World" - has been taking place since 1909 in and around the city of Nijmegen in the Netherlands. Around 40,000 people gather there in July each year to cover different long distances on foot together and in very pleasant ways. The age range is from 13 years and up with roughly 35,000 civilian participants and roughly 5,000 uniformed participants from all over the world. The event goes by the name "De 4Daagse Nijmegen" and in Sweden is called simply "Nijmegenmarschen".
Year 2020
The Dutch organizer of De 4Daagse Nijmegen decided in April 2020 to cancel that year's march due to the pandemic.
In a flash, long-distance enthusiasts in Mälardalen then organized a corresponding long-distance march in Stockholm in July of the same year. The event was organized by the newly started association Kungsholmens Gång- och Vandrarsällskap (KGVS) and was very successful thanks to very generous help from many non-profit organizations. KGVS sincerely thanks everyone who made this possible.
Efter målgång den fjärde dagen beslutades att permanenta evenemanget i Stockholm i juli månad varje år om Nijmegenmarschen inte genomförs, annars vid annan tidpunkt.
Year 2021
Due to the pandemic, the Dutch organizer of De 4Daagse decided to cancel the event in 2021 as well. KGVS organized the 2nd 4Dagars Stockholm in July 2021.
Year 2022
In June, the 3rd 4Dagars Stockholm was carried out in the same way as in 2020 and 2021. 4Dagars was approved in 2022 as a formal selection event for participants who wished to qualify for the Nijmegen march.
In July, the Nijmegen march was carried out again after the pandemic interruption.

When the leadership of Frösunda Mångkampsförening faced a generational change in 2021, this association was included with the ambition that the association's various established events could continue to be carried out.
These ingrained events are
- The one-day march Snösvägen, 10/18 km, traditionally carried out on the Epiphany on Lovön.
- The one-day march Vårskruden, 10/20/30/40 km, traditionally carried out on the second day of Easter in Ursvik.
- The one-day march Nattsärken 10 km traditionally carried out in mid-May in Ursvik.
- The two-day march Bärsärkagången 20/30/40 km, traditionally completed in the middle
- The 24-hour day march, 10-125 km, traditionally held on the last weekend in August, in Ursvik.
- The two-day Höstsärken march, 20 km, traditionally carried out in September/October, in Ursvik.
Snösvängen, Vårskruden, Höstsärken and Nattsärken have been put to rest during the year 2023.
Ambulator organizes the following marches in the year 2023:
- The four-day march 4Daars Stockholm has been moved and will be held in May 2023, among other things to make room for the Bärsärkagången.
- The two-day march Bärsärkagången has been moved to the month of June.
- The 24-hour march 24-hours has evolved and changed its name, and from now on is called Centum and is carried out in August.
- The one-day event Ten Islands takes place in September.
